I would suggest you to define a external number range for this (as internal won't be possible) and even help if you define it at Material Type level (using number range object-BATCH_MAT).
And then can use customer enhancement-SAPLV1ZE which has FM- EXIT_SAPLV01Z_003 & EXIT_SAPLV01Z_004 to write your own code.

They are primarily looking at a combination of a tool based approach (converts from PB to Javascript\J2EE BENTO Modern UI\Bootstrap framework) and some manual refactoring. One of the key requirements is for the automation tool to convert Datawindows to Web BENTO Modern UI. They are evaluating some tools in the market that can convert automatically upto 60%. I totally agree that there are risks in going with this approach given the size, complexity and strategic nature of these applications. Even if they migrate to the target Javascript\J2EE based app, the cost of maintaining such an application will be atleast 3-4 times more than what it might be right now. I would appreciate any inputs on whether there were any studies done on developer productivity comparisons between BENTO Modern UI\Bootstrap framework versus Powerbuilder\Appeon. I understand that Appeon is a safe and superior option. If Appeon could have supported this Target framework, they might have considered it. However, as per feedback from Appeon, they do not support this target framework.

Colors Themes in NWBC 5.0
According to the NWBC 5.0 release information, it is possible to set different color themes for different systems.
I have set the Signature Theme in SAPGUI and I've changed the colors for a few back end systems. I've set Use SAP GUI theme in NWBC 5.0. The colors however do not show up when I call an SAPGUI transaction via NWBC 5.0 PL2.
Is there something additional that needs to be done to enable this functionality?

Use SAP GUI theme - In SAP GUI 7.3 standalone (Signature theme), you could set different color themes for different systems - eg to distinguish between ERP and HCM, or DEV and PRD. In the NWBC Corbu theme, these color systems were lost. Now you can retain them:

I wonder what they plan on doing with the PB developers. Even if they retrain them, they no longer have in-depth knowledge of the code. The application will now be maintained by a group of developers that are all new to the development tools and have no knowledge of the code.

Partial GR for serialized material: ITS RF
Hi,
We are using the standard /SCWM/RFUI transaction for ITS transactions.
We are doing "Receive HU by ASN" step.
For serialized materials, it does not allow use to do a Partial GR. If an ASN item has 5 quantities, we want to pack three quantities into a new HU and receive it. But it gives an error.
Is it an expected behavior?

In order to have the stock transfer requirement considered at the MRP area level, you must define the issuing storage location on the stock transfer requisition.
However, MRP does not determine the issuing storage location automatically and you need to use BAdI MD_EXT_SUP for this purpose.

No more development on APO?
With APO going on 'Extended Support' this essentially means that there will be no more development on the APO platform. APO is developed on the BI platform. Very similar to when SAP bought BOBJ, BI development, for all intense purposes stopped while they built out content in BOBJ. There are only so many developers at SAP and budget for the number of SCM headcount. Have not seen in recent publications that SAP has doubled their development org. This means that all dev must be going to their platform being released in 6 years. Only makes sense.
